Nature at Spring Arbor
Lake
Part
1 - Carbondale, Illinois
Too late in the Season (September
16th) to capture and photograph butterflies
in and around a wild blackberry patch at the far end of Spring
Arbor Lake, but below the dam
were numerous Common Buckeye butterflies. These butterflies were
anywhere from 1 5/8 inches
to 2 3/4 inches in wing span and didn't seem a bit concerned with
our presence.
One very faded Monarch butterfly was
also captured on this day. Next one is a weathered
Viceroy butterfly, often times confused with a Monarch.
