Springtime in the Flint Hills

A few Spring wildflowers beginning to show through the surface of the open grassland on March 28, 1999.
  The horse who thinks the grass was greener on the other side of the fence, is one of the same captured
last Fall in "Sundown in the Flint Hills" (November 22, 1998).

Still a bit dry in the Flint Hills on April 4, 1999, but beginning to green awaiting much needed Spring rains.

These horses didn't seem to mind posing in the sun while grazing on a Sunday afternoon.

Spring calves were a bit difficult to get close to while watching us, but the young bull
in the center got real close.
